Dock levelers are items that are incredibly useful for a business, but may not be something you have ever thought of. If you have, you might not have known what they were called or where to find them. Surely, you have seen them. You might even have levelers on your loading dock right now but need new ones or need to have them modified. Here is what they are.
What Are They?
If you have a loading dock at your business, the most efficient way to load and unload items is typically by backing a truck up to the dock. The dock will be raised off the ground so that the floor of the truck is level with the loading dock. You can then use a ramp or some similar system to move items on and off the truck. However, not all trucks are the same height. If your loading dock is not the exact same height as the truck bed, you need dock levelers to fix the discrepancy.

Two Types
There are two types of dock levelers. There are levelers that raise the dock and levelers that raise the truck. If the trucks pulling into the dock are too low, the leveler will be installed on the floor of the dock. Trucks will then drive in and the leveler will raise the truck when they drive up to it. If the trucks are too high for the dock, the leveler will be installed on the dock. In that case, the leveler will be something that employees walk onto to be higher up and even with the truck floor.
This makes it much easier to load and unload trucks. Your business could greatly benefit from a good set of levelers. You can also follow them on Twitter for latest news and update!
