Basic Diving Signals That Are Most Often Used in Dives
One of the most commonly used diving hand signals is the sign that divers use to say OK. This signal is given by putting the thumb tip and forefinger together. The sign for the word “stop” is also commonly used, and divers simply hold their hand out with their flat palm facing the person that they are trying to signal. If you need to tell other divers to slow down that they are going too fast, then you can send them a signal by holding your flat hand straight out and moving it slowly up and down. Another important signal that divers use often is the signal to alert other divers that their depth needs to be changed. If you hold your hand out flat and move it from side to side, then that will tell divers that the depth needs to stay the same. If you are trying to go up in depth, then you would show them your fist while putting your thumb up. To go lower, you would just do the exact opposite, and put your thumb down while showing your fist.
