America’s sweet tooth goes back centuries. While the history of the production of sugar cane is far from glamorous and involved scenes of tragedy, the glow of sugar products remains. Today’s production is removed from the past but the sweetness has, if nothing else, intensified with the advance of technology. Yet, in spite of the prevalence of candy at corner stores and in Chicago or Philadelphia celebrated candy shops, candy does have a season. To celebrate the arrival of these special times of year, why not choose specifically themed gourmet gift baskets?
‘Tis the Season to Give Candy
Whether you are a child or an adult, you anticipate certain times of the year for what it brings. Among the most common and most anticipated candy seasonal celebrations are:
* Valentine’s Day: The Lover’s holiday, a gift basket, gourmet or otherwise, needs to contain various chocolate items. Chocolate roses are a common item. Candy hearts and similarly shaped sweets also form essential components found in such gift baskets
* Easter: Another day when chocolate rules. In this case, hearts are out but rabbits, hens and other animals associated with the day are common. Hollow or solid, dark or milk, the choice is dependent on the taste of the recipient of the basket
* Christmas: More sedate than many holidays, it is nevertheless a time when gift baskets abound. They are often combinations of candy, chocolate, jam, cookies and fruit. It depends upon preference and the shop preparing them.
* Hallowe’en: This candy date is not one of the most popular for giving gift baskets, but it should be. For adults in Chicago or Denver who crave more than junk-candy or for those who celebrate this day above others, gourmet gift baskets are ideal. Orange, black and red predominate leaving a lot to the imagination of the candy shop owner and his or her team.
These four dates on the calendar are excellent candy-giving gift dates. In fact, Christmas and Valentine’s Day are, according to statistics, the most popular days to give gift baskets with Easter following close. They are not, however, the sole dates when candy gift baskets can make the right impression. One of the most popular days for giving a gift basket is truly not seasonal. This is, of course, Mother’s Day.
Gourmet Gift Baskets: A Gift for All Seasons and Holidays
For those in Chicago, Portland, Miami or San Francisco, holidays are seasonal events. They mark a change. Why not share your celebration, whatever form it may take, with the purchase of gourmet gift baskets that make the good times roll.
