Choices And APV Valve Options

by | Aug 23, 2017 | Industrial Goods & Services

In any type of sanitary processing system, valves are critical to controlling the flow of the material through the system. This becomes even more critical when the material may be challenging to work with such as a liquid that requires high pressure, a slurry or semi-solid or a suspension of solids within a liquid.

Additional issues can include working conditions with high temperatures, extremely cold temperatures or where the vibration of the pipes and tubing, as well as possible shock to the valve, may be a concern.

To address these issues, SPX FLOW offers a line of specialized valves. Each of their APV valve models is designed for a specific type of material and application, with many valves a good option across different working environments and for different forms of liquids and materials through the system.

Features to Consider

With all the options to choose from, selecting the ideal APV valve for any application will take a bit of time and consideration. If a current valve by APV is in place, you may still want to consider your options if you are making a replacement.

Ideally, you will need to consider the type of function required for the valve. Will it need to be able to change over, to provide regulation of the flow of material through the system or will it need to be shut off at times?

In many cases, the valve will function as critical system protection. This can automatically provide information to the system if the pressure exceeds or drops below a specific level or if flow volume changes outside of specific parameters.

Additionally, there may be a need to have backflow prevention mechanisms in the valve or to ensure a mix proof system, all which may be important considerations for features in sanitary processing systems.
