Tactical Thinking

So you have a gun, and you can generally be trusted not to shoot yourself in the butt. Think that it’s not a common occurrence? Just go ahead and Google “man shoots himself in the buttocks” – I’ll wait.

You back? All right.

Now that you have that gun and a basic grip on firearms training, taking it to the next level is the most sensible and responsible thing you can do. Why? Because you need to understand that having a gun and shooting a paper target does not give you the tactical training you need to survive a situation in which you or your family are the targets.

What are Tactics?

Tactics are short term solutions to get oneself out of a situation or make the best of it until such opportunity presents itself to change the situation. For instance, if you are carjacked, you could be put in the trunk while the actor drives your car. Tactical thinking would be working on getting out of the trunk and getting away from the actor. Strategic thinking is a more long term chain of thought that could help you to prevent being carjacked in the first place such as changing your route to avoid areas of high crime and being aware of your surroundings as you enter and exit your vehicle.

Part of learning tactical thinking is training with professionals at a tactical shooting range, Invicta Tactics. This type of training is generally developed for the intelligence community, armed forces, and law enforcement and is now available to civilians. Be a better and more responsible gun owner, a more proactive citizen, and safer at home in Houston or wherever you happen to be.
