Fire outbreaks and other emergency incidents have been on a rise in India and the most recent disaster was the Surat fire incident. This fire started at the ground floor and engulfed the whole four storey building. This forced the students to go towards the roof. In an attempt to escape fire, at least 22 students lost their lives either through suffocation/ while trying to jump for safety. The coaching center was located on the third and fourth floors of the Takshashila Complex.
We deeply mourn the innocent lives lost in this incident. Unfortunately, a jumping cushion could not be provided on time at the incident. This jumping cushion would have saved the students who jumped to escape from the fire.
